St. Mary School was founded in 1863 as St. Anne Academy in Mattoon, Illinois. In 1893, a new, two-story structure was built and named St. Joseph School. The current school as seen above was built in 1963.
St. Mary School is a preschool through 5th grade elementary school in the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois.
St. Mary School is dedicated to the development of the whole child for a better life on earth and for an eternal place in the Kindgom of God. Our doors are open to all walks of faith.
Need a new year's resolution to help enrich your spiritual life?
Through scriptural readings, shared discussions, and planned actions, the Why Catholic? small groups help deepend appreciation of the Catholic faith with particular emphasis on Jesus' public life and Paschal Mystery. Why not resolve this year to become a Why Catholic? participant in the new sessions.
